Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
1. Introduction
Amazighly ("we", "our", or "us") operates an online dictionary for the Amazigh language. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data. By using Amazighly, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide and improve the service:
- Account information — when you register, we store your email address, chosen username, and authentication provider (email/password or Google Sign-In).
- Contributions — translations, votes, and edits you submit are stored and publicly visible as part of the dictionary.
- Usage data — we may collect anonymised search queries and page-view data to understand how the dictionary is used and to improve search quality.
- Technical data — standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and referring URL, retained for security and debugging purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To display your public profile and contributions.
- To detect and prevent spam, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Use.
- To send transactional emails such as account confirmation and password reset.
- To analyse usage patterns and improve the dictionary experience.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising purposes.
4. Public Contributions
Any translation, definition, or comment you submit is publicly visible and associated with your username. Please do not include personal information in your contributions. Contributions may be indexed by search engines.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud infrastructure, authentication (Amazon Cognito), and database storage.
- Google Sign-In — optional authentication method. If you use it, Google's privacy policy applies to the data shared during sign-in.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed from our systems within 30 days. Public contributions may be retained in anonymised form to preserve the integrity of the dictionary.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
Amazighly uses only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.
9. Children's Privacy
Amazighly is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
