Terms of Use
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Amazighly ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time; continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
2. Description of Service
Amazighly is a community-driven online dictionary for the Amazigh (Tamazight) language. Registered users can submit translations, vote on existing entries, and manage a public profile. The dictionary content is publicly accessible without an account.
3. User Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials.
- You may not create accounts for the purpose of spamming, impersonating others, or circumventing a previous suspension or ban.
- Accounts may be temporarily suspended or permanently banned depending on the severity or frequency of violations. A permanent ban means you may not create a new account without prior written permission.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without prior notice in cases of serious or repeated abuse.
4. Roles and Permissions
Amazighly operates with different user roles, each with different levels of access:
- Users — can submit new entries, vote on existing entries, and report content.
- Moderators — can review reported content, approve or reject submissions, and issue warnings to users.
- Administrators — have full control over the dictionary, including the ability to lock entries, manage user roles, and issue suspensions or bans.
Administrators may lock any entry to prevent further edits. Locked entries are typically well-established, verified, or otherwise sensitive records that should not be modified by regular users. Locked entries are clearly marked as such in the interface.
5. Content Guidelines
Amazighly is a linguistic resource. All contributions must serve the purpose of documenting the Amazigh language accurately and respectfully. The following content is strictly prohibited:
- Abusive or offensive language — submissions that contain hate speech, slurs targeting individuals or groups, or content designed to harass or demean.
- Spam and irrelevant content — repeated, low-quality, or nonsensical submissions intended to flood the dictionary. This includes submitting the same entry multiple times or making trivial edits in quick succession.
- Vote manipulation — using multiple accounts, coordinating with others, or any other method to artificially influence voting on entries.
- Misinformation — deliberately incorrect translations or fabricated linguistic data.
- Sexually explicit material — content of a sexual nature that is not a legitimate linguistic entry.
- Personal information — real names, phone numbers, addresses, or any other personally identifiable information of third parties.
- Illegal content — anything that violates applicable law, including content that promotes violence or discrimination.
Note: Amazighly may include dictionary entries for words that are considered vulgar or offensive in everyday speech. Such entries are permitted only when they serve a genuine linguistic or educational purpose and are presented in a neutral, descriptive manner.
6. Reporting, Moderation, and Appeals
Users can report entries they believe violate these guidelines using the report function on each entry. Our moderation team reviews reports and may remove content, lock entries, issue warnings, or suspend or ban accounts. We are not obligated to act on every report, but we take abuse seriously and aim to keep the dictionary a reliable resource.
If you believe a moderation decision was made in error, you may appeal by contacting us at legal@amazighly.com with a clear description of the situation. We will review your appeal and respond within a reasonable time. Appeals do not guarantee reversal of a decision.
7. Intellectual Property
By submitting a translation or any other content to Amazighly, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, display, and distribute that content as part of the Service. You retain ownership of your contributions, but you confirm that you have the right to submit them and that they do not infringe any third-party rights.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Amazighly is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Dictionary content is contributed by users and may contain errors. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any entry for a particular purpose. Use the Service at your own discretion.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Amazighly and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to reliance on dictionary content or loss of account data.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Amazighly at any time if you breach these Terms of Use or if we decide to discontinue the Service. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings.
11. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes arising from the use of Amazighly shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Netherlands.
